Chicks With Sticks:

Learn German short rows and create a beautiful shawl!

We have a new class offering for June: Make this beautiful Hera shawl while learning to do German short rows. German short rows are a great alternative to the typical "wrap & turn" short row. They are easier to do and less noticeable than w&t. Once you learn this technique, you'll want to use it all the time!

Class will be two sessions held on Saturday, June 6 and June 13, 9:00-11:00am. The cost is $50.

Materials required (not included in class fee): 3 hanks of Uneek Fingering (can substitue Malabrigo Sock or other variegated fingering weight yarn), but the color changes will occur differently), US 4 (3.5mm) straight or circular needles (or size needed to get gauge), and stitch markers. You will also need a US 7 or 8 needle for a sample swatch. We ask that you purchase your yarn (and other necessities) at the shop where you'll get 10% off all class materials.

We just received a shipment of Uneek that will go fast so come by the shop to sign up and choose your yarn soon! That will also give us time to get it all wound prior to class.

Memorial Day Weekend Hours:

We will be closed on Saturday, May 23 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day weekend.

West Michigan Yarn Quest is June 18-27!

Passports are on sale now for only $5! Come join in the fun! This year there are ten shops to visit and lots of great door prizes!

Not sure what Yarn Quest is? In a nutshell, a YQ passport is your ticket to 15% off yarn in the ten participating shops June 18-27 and entry into the daily door prize drawings. Visit each shop to collect a piece of the YQ pattern, designed by Becca Anderson of Threadbender specifically for Yarn Quest (available in knit or crochet!). Visit at least eight shops to be entered into the big runner-up drawings (10 prizes valued at $150 each) or visit all ten to be entered into the Grand Prize drawings (2 prizes will be given away, valued at $500 each)!

Upcoming Classes and Events:

Building Blocks/Building in Color, Building with Lace: The next session will be on Saturday, May 16, 9:00-11:00am. Join us for this monthly drop-in workshop to work through the Building Series from Skacel. This is a great skill-building opportunity. Pre-registration is not required, but is appreciated. The cost is $15/2-hr session. Click the class name for more information.

Thursday Night Drop-In: Join us on Thursday nights from 6-8pm for social knitting, crocheting, or whatever portable fiber craft you're working on. You're welcome just to come in and hang out or shop, too.
