Chicks With Sticks - The Holiday Season is Here!
We are thankful.... |
....for YOU! As Thanksgiving arrives, we find ourselves reflecting on the past year. This year has been sad and scary and strange. It's also taught us all to live more simply, enjoy the little successes, and realize how strong we are in the face of adversity. Thank you to each and every one of you for your support - we wouldn't be able to survive without you. We will get through this together! |
New for 2020: Take It-Make It As much as we enjoy the opportunity for social knitting, we will not be doing our annual Make It-Take It event this year. This year, in order to keep us all safe, we're turning it around and offering Take It-Make It! We have put together kits for quick projects that you can take and make at home. Hats such as Twistmas, Irma, and Rafa (a great one for the guy in your life) will be available starting on Black Friday. We've also put together kits for the Royal Oak Cowl with Woolstok from Blue Sky Fibers. This is my first time knitting with Woolstok and I'm loving it! |
Looking for gifts for the fiber artists in your life? We have all sorts of great gift ideas, like Cocoknits stitch marker flights, blocking mats, locally-made project bags and yarn bowls, and, of course, yarn. Can't make up your mind? How about a gift certificate? |
12 Days of Madeline Tosh: We have a very limited number of 12 Days of Madeline Tosh Advent kits still available. Each kit has 12 TML Unicorn Tails featuring 6 core and 6 special holiday colors, along with some little gifties and a pattern for both knit and crochet! Kits are in the shop now so stop in soon before they're gone! |
Knitters' and Crocheters' Christmas Gift Exchange: Each year the Kalamazoo Knitter's Guild holds a knitters' gift exchange. This year, they are extending the invitation to anyone who is interested in participating. You drop off a wrapped knitted or crocheted gift before December 10 and pick up a gift after December 10. Details: Make knitted or crocheted items using a single skein of yarn. Write down the pattern used and the yarn used. Be sure to indicate any special care instructions. Enclose the note with your item in the wrapped package. You can sign your note or you can choose to remain anonymous. Typical gifts are gloves, cowls, hats, slippers, scarves, and the like. Wrap the present and drop it off at Chicks With Sticks before Dec. 10. There is a labeled bin for gifts in the back of the shop. Be sure to sign your name and contact information on the list so we can ensure you also receive a gift! After Dec. 10, return and choose a wrapped gift for yourself. Charity Knitting: We will again be collecting handmade hats, mittens, scarves, cowls, and more for Seita Scholars (WMU) as well as local families in need. Donated yarn may be available for you to use - just call the store if you have any questions. We have tags available in the shop to tag your items with fiber content and care instructions. Please drop of donations for Seita by the Monday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 30). Anything received after that date will be donated to other charities. Please note that our charity for children's hats requires them to be machine washable. Our hours this weekend will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Black Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Small Business Saturday. We hope you'll come see us! Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
