My First Socks
Join Amy for this 3-session class to learn the very addictive process of making socks! We will be making basic socks, starting at the cuff, and using the two-circular needle method for knitting small circumferences in the round. In class you will learn the following:
Plan on dedicating time between classes to complete each section in preparation for the next class.
- Choosing the right yarn for socks;
- Basic sock terminology (what is a gusset anyway??);
- Casting on and joining two circular needles for knitting in the round;
- Actually knitting in the round using two circular needles;
- Heel construction, including knitting the heel flap, turning the heel, gusset and gusset decreases;
- Determining proper foot length;
- Decreasing the toe and closing the toe with the Kitchener stitch (it's not as scary as people make it out to be!)

Instructor Name:
Amy
Instructor Bio:
Amy is a self-taught knitter who's been madly in love with the craft for more than 30 years! She loves all things fiber, including crocheting, sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, weaving, and more (if it involves fiber, she's probably at least tried it!). Amy retired from the pharmaceutical industry and, with her friend Michelle, owns Chicks With Sticks because neither felt like they had quite enough yarn!
When she's not playing with fiber, she enjoys camping (which usually also includes knitting) and reading. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 40 years and has two children, two children-in-love, and two grandchildren.
